“We’re in a very unique spot this year to show that hope, inspiration and the desire to persevere still exists on a multitude of levels,” says Cassie Leventhal, a New Yorker with Boston roots running her first Boston Marathon in honor of her uncle, who is being treated at Dana-Farber for brain and lung cancer. “Running is a living, breathing metaphor for overcoming adversity. As we get the chance to return to Boston and finish the race, it’s important that others get the opportunity to finish their races as well.”
